As a work at home internet entrepreneur I get to set my own schedule, choose when I want to take time out to enjoy life or lie in bed all day. Admittedly the latter rarely happens, but I can decided when I want to work or be extra productive the following day after taking a break…but the work still has to get done at some point to keep pushing business forward.
So, this week while the UK basked in a mini heat wave, I took time out to make the most of the fine weather and visited several local gardens to see the spring delights.
Yesterday I went to the Royal Botanical Gardens at Wakehurst. Being a National Trust property it is always very popular for its collections and for its scientific research with Kew’s Millennium Seed Bank.
As I strolled round Wakehurst, I discovered there were still many Snowdrops, Daffodils, Crocus, and Camellia in flower. I was able to take some photos of some early Azaleas and Rhoda’s, and a Magnolia looked magnificent. There was nothing worth photographing in the Walled Garden, green shoots had only just started to appear on many plants.
I continued my walk down into the Loder Valley, and while walking round Westwood lake I found myself thinking how peaceful and pleasant the atmosphere was here. 🙂
My visit certainly created more happy memories of spring 2014. I will be visiting Wakehurst again next month when there are more flowers to see. Enjoy the slide show!
