If you plan to build a network marketing team, recruitment is an MUST! Whether you build it through active recruitment on social media or leverage attraction marketing by blogging, you have to learn and develop those prospecting and team building skills.
But what about overcoming those other common struggles like, sluggish growth and lack of duplication… as well as constantly having to motivate your downline?
These and other questions are all answered in today’s guest post.
Many top network marketing leaders will tell you they crushed their competition using proven guerrilla marketing tactics. The truth is, they FOCUS on a few simple revenue generating activities being shared by their mentor. They do these marketing activities very CONSISTENTLY.
When you follow in the footsteps of a “trusted” mentor, someone that is already doing something you want too … you get an insight into what they’re doing and what makes them successful?
Which brings me to today’s guest blogger, Julie Burke, and building a network marketing team.
Not only is she a very successful businesswoman online, but she is now a new mentor of mine… Julie is already where I want to be with my own business.
Now, before I go on and dive into sharing Julie’s 10 Steps To Build A Rock-Solid Network Marketing Team … Which are not as difficult as you might think. Even if you DON’T have a team you should take notes and applying these steps to your business.
I’d first like to share my insights about TWO of the biggest problems encountered while trying to build my network marketing team… And how Julie’s fresh approach taught me how to fix things.
You see, most novice network marketers all experience similar challenges. We all make the same push marketing mistakes. My journey and steep learning curve was no different.
Don’t make the same mistakes I did, build your network marketing team online in a smarter way!
When I got started building my network marketing team, I was doing everything my upline told me to do. I was blasting my generic website link all over the place. Even did Facebook jail time for posting “join my opportunity” and “buy my product” pitches way too often.
Being a novice, I didn’t realize I was being so spammy. I followed what everyone else was doing because I thought what my upline gurus taught was how to generate sales online. Trouble is, what they were teaching is outdated and never really worked anyway. Does that sound familiar?
I did make some sales with this amateurish marketing approach, but it was hardly the promised dream, and certainly not enough to change my life going forward.
However, I quickly discovered (mainly through trial and error) that when you have a simple step-by-step blueprint to follow, and do things consistently, day after day, the desired results do come without the need to spam your offer.
First Problem Encountered
Even so, here’s the first problem I encountered.
Anyone can learn to become a great recruiter to build a network marketing team.
Unless there is DUPLICATION your team never grows… or grows at a snail’s pace!
Like most excited new network marketers, I focused heavily on recruitment.
After all, it’s a numbers game, right?
But here’s the thing, my new team members were dropping out, many never got started in their build.
I couldn’t fathom why this was happening.
WAS IT THEM….or WAS IT ME?
In a nutshell, I didn’t know what I NEEDED to know!
Second Problem Encountered
Looking back and thinking about it — the problems that network marketers have — it’s kind of ironic that my own struggles while trying to build a network marketing team lead me to discover Julie’s team building steps. But I’m getting way ahead of myself here!
Surprisingly enough, I had an “Ah-ha” moment.
I realised, I needed a multi-step process that would DUPLICATE.
In other words, show others how to “teach the teach.”
But there is just one small catch in my master plan. Many new recruits go off and do what is comfortable for them, and some even try to reinvent the wheel.
Neither are what I want in my plan for rapid duplication and building a network marketing team.
So, what’s the answer?
As it turns out… the key is to have a strategy for LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT.
You see, you need a set of things to tell your brand new recruit the moment they start their online business. They need the right training, the right information, and at the right time.
The best thing is, you are like a tour guide who points people in the right direction. You point out their pains and problems, then point them to resources where they can find their solution.
In essence, you bridge the gap with your own audience to make things relevant for them.
With all that said, let’s dive in with the 10 Steps To Build A Rock-Solid Network Marketing Team and all the above will become much clearer.
Are you struggling to duplicate?
Frustrated with the lack of growth of your team?
Do you find it exhausting to try and keep your team members motivated?
Hey, you’re not alone!
It’s not as hard as you might think to create vastly more production in your organization.
So pay close attention to the following tips, because you’re about to learn my top 10 steps for building a rock-solid and exponentially more profitable team!
Even if you don’t have a team just yet…
You want to take on the posture that you are in the process of building a HUGE organization.
Right now your main focus is to find people who are ready to take this journey with you.
See yourself leading calls, recognizing a team members, and start acting as if you are leading a large team.
Through this simple act of ‘doing’ and visualization, your mind will start to believe you have a large team, which will start to attract new thoughts and manifest new possibilities.
Never ever let a teammate abuse you verbally or abuse your time.
If someone is constantly asking you for advice but never taking it, give them homework.
You must protect your time and offer it to the right teammates who are producing, duplicating, and showing up to the occasion.
Otherwise you’ll end up tired, frustrated, and ready to throw in the towel.
Look, you can never assume people want it as bad as you do.
This is a very common mistake.
Ask them why they joined and what they hoped to gain out of their business.
Remember to love and respect your product users, they are the lifeline of your business, so make sure you DO NOT disregard them.
Be happy with anyone that wants to join, whether it’s a business prospect or product user.
Also, make sure you don’t make any assumptions, just because they said they can use extra cash.
Even if that’s mentioned, they will pull back at some point and say they want to try the product or service first to see what they experience.
There will always be more people using the product over those that join to build a business.
Yep, stop striving for the recognition.
And instead, strive to lift others up.
Network marketing can slap you in the face from time to time, so make sure you are empowering others and encouraging their growth.
Run your own team calls, webinars, and training’s.
When at an event, make sure you highlight a team member and share their story.
This helps them to break out of their comfort zone and that’s where real growth takes place.
One of the most common questions I get is…
“How can I motivate my team?”
Well, you will want to realize that everyone starts at a different point.
Some want to treat their business as a hobby and some want to blow it out of the water.
So you should ‘love on’ everyone, but the majority of your time will be inspiring the team that’s going after it.
If they are in action, you are in the trenches beside them.
The easiest way to motivate is to get their rank advanced ASAP!
When they see how easy it is to follow the system, learn the skills, and get paid, that’s when duplication sets in, but always keep inspiring and leading by example!
This is the same thing I always tell my team when it comes to selling…
Play the ‘takeaway card’ if they are hesitant.
We don’t ever, ever want to force someone into joining a team or purchasing our products if they don’t want to.
That’s cramming it down their throat and it leaves a really bad impression.
Instead, start asking your team member questions…
Why did you join?
What did you hope to gain?
Do you truly want those things?
How will you attain freedom if you don’t build this?
Are those things serious to you?
These questions honor the person in regards to asking why they actually joined in the first place.
Now, let’s get back to the vision of what they dreamed of…
Teach others to do what you do!
If you don’t follow this, then you’ll always be depended on—and that sucks!
When they ask questions, send them to a tool to find the answer.
You want to point them in the right direction and empower them, NOT enable them!
When I got started in network marketing I had TONS of questions.
The best thing my upline did was to be my “tour guide” so I could do my own due diligence.
“Teach to teach” means you are completely duplicatable to the next person, so your business will go on, with or without you.
Would you want to be on the phone for 30 minutes with someone or take 5 seconds to point them to a training, video, blog you already created to answer their question?
That’s what I thought! 😉
People love to feel good, right?
People love the limelight on them, even if they say they hate it, correct?
People want to be recognized for their efforts, yes?
So always make sure you are recognizing those that are putting in the effort you want them to.
Help others realize the greatness they have inside of them.
I CAN’T express enough how important it is to invest in yourself!
If your company offers events, you need to be there, and get your people there.
Understand this profession!
When I got started I’d never heard of network marketing before, so I needed to become the student—and fast!
And it’s not just about investing money into your business, but also time.
What are you willing to give up today to be where you want to in 2-3 years from now?
Education is key so you can offer more value.
When you invest in yourself, you instantly become more valuable to your team.
Always be learning so you can always be sharing.
When I have a team member call me up on a rampage, or down in the dumps, I listen with no interruption.
After they are finish, I politely ask them if they are “coachable” before I respond.
Remember here that you are NOT their boss, so you don’t tell them what to do.
Instead you give advice and train through telling stories or through your own experiences.
It makes a HUGE difference in how your coaching is received.
And that’s a wrap!
I hope you found my 10 team building steps valuable.
Now, let’s discuss…
How to use social media to prospect, recruit, and build your network marketing team
Fortunately today, it’s easier than ever to find people for your business without pestering anyone or doing ANY kind of cold prospecting whatsoever!
And the easiest way to do that is through leveraging social media.
This is exactly how I built my team of over 8,300 people, hit six figures in my 13th month in business, and achieved MULTI-six figures just a few months later.
I’m telling you these figures so you know what’s possible.
The best part?
You don’t even need a website or even to have an advertising budget.
I certainly didn’t when I first got started.
If you want to know how to find lots of quality people and create a massive surge in your business by leveraging the power of social media…
Cheers to your success!
