Skype – A Quick Way To Build A Large List Of Contacts.

While trying out different marketing strategies I discovered several things that worked …and just as many that didn’t!! I will be writing blogs on a few of these in the near future, but one of those that I found that produced a large number of contacts “quickly” was using Skype together with a cool “push button” messaging app called Message Magic.

Now if you are not one of the half a BILLION people currently using Skype and are wondering “What is Skype?” I suggest you watch the short animated film, but briefly… Skype is a software application that allows users to make voice calls over the Internet. Facebook Membership vs Skype Membership

Facebook has been getting a ton of press over the size of their 400+ million membership. Skype are also undergoing a massive surge in membership and are creating their own Internet and mobile trend. Just take a look at these staggering statistics.

“Skype membership has also increased a couple of hundred million going from 300 million in 2008 to over 521 million in 2009 and not sign of slowing”.

“Skype-to-Skype calls accounted for 13% of all international call minutes in 2009. Out of the 406 billion international call minutes a total of 54 billion were used by Skype calls”.

You have to agree that’s a staggering number of Skype members and phone calls being made. Obviously, there is no shortage of people that you can contact about your network marketing business through these communications channels once you have the right tools, and the right marketing strategy in place to get results – quick!

…And that’s where Message Magic comes in.

What does every network marketer need? Leads, leads, more leads, and an effective way for people to review what it is they are offering. What we have here is this:

1. A tool to gain an unlimited supply of new, interested real-time leads.
2. A way for marketers to get their advertisement read by new people.
3. A tool for people with large Skype contact lists to broadcast their messages to everyone with a single click.
4. A tool to broadcast a single text message to an unlimited number of mobile phones.

So how does Message Magic work?

The first time I came across Message Magic software was shortly after the product launched in July 2008.

Back then the Message Magic software didn’t have such cool functionality that it does today, and like anything that is promoted with a 3×7 forced matrix pay plan attached, it came with a ton of mlm style rah-rah about the income opportunity.

However, I could see the software’s awesome potential to do the grunt work, but I hadn’t refined my sales funnel to produce the kind of results I was looking for. So I moved on to learn other marketing strategies and get back to it when I felt the time was right for me.

During those couple of years the software was further developed, and even today new features are still being added all the time. While I on the other hand, continued my journey of learning how to do online marketing and experimenting to find what worked best for me so that I could duplicate my success.

Lessons learnt as an affiliate marketer

I’ve learnt a many things on my journey (and had to unlearn a few things too!) but while sending out Facebook friend invites as part of my “permission marketing” strategy I became curious about using Message Magic with Skype.

I started testing a few messages and began seeing some results. Some good, some poor. So I thought why no try to upscale the good ones and let the Message Magic software automate the grunt work part of the prospecting process. So I did, and I quickly built a contact list of several thousand people literally within days of pushing the button.

The process to build contacts is very simple:

1. Invite to connect (no spam).
2. Acknowledge the Add Me.
3. Build the relationship to discover 3 things before talking about your business and solution.
   1. Is there a problem to be solved?
   2. Do they have a need and desire to change?
   3. Do you have the right solution for them?

I’ve put two 1st contact message examples below, but there are many more examples in the MessageMagic resources center – sign-up free to access it. The first is a simple generic message and the second message is targeted towards Network Marketers and Internet Marketers that I have found using search patterns with MLM company names and the NWM gurus. It is a message I use when going through business directories and chamber of commerce member directories, I find I get more responses.

The goal of my 2nd message was to achieve four things.

• I’m asking them to send me their link – I’m not pitching but being helpful!
• I’m demonstrating that by adding me as a contact I will be “adding value” by offering to set up some link juice.
• I’ve given myself posture and plenty of great reasons to get back anytime.
• They save me time surfing by providing links/content to tweet or bookmark and I gain traffic off their content.

Note: The messages below are just examples to illustrate my blog post. You might find that less is more for you. You have to play about and see what works best for what you are selling, who you are targeting and in which country they reside. For my ZeekRewards business we are required to give away bids to customers for the Zeekler penny auctions so that we can earn a points for each bid we give  and that earns daily in the Retail Profit Pool. A simple line might be: “Hey! I get paid to give away bids to the Zeekler Penny Auction. They want people to try the auction out and see how much fun it is to win great stuff for really low prices. Will you let me sign you up so I can give you 500 free bids with a real $300 value?”
